Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO’s are a big topic, one that is not only controversial, but raises strong emotion in many people.  While we at Kiss My Tractor are not prepared to take sides, we do represent mainstream farmers who use sustainable methods, as well as farmers who grow their crops organically as well as naturally raised.  With this said, we wish to let you know about a new website which tells the scientist’s point of view regarding GMOs.

A council of leading biotech companies, comprised of Bayer CropScience, BASF, Monsanto, DowAgro-Science, Dupont Pioneer and Syngenta,  has launched this website in order to answer questions of the public – that’s you and me – about genetically modified organisms.  The website discusses what GMOs are, how they are made, and why farmers use them.

There is a global need for increased production to meet food demand, and biotechnology is one tool to attain that, alongside organic, sustainable and conventional systems.  Additionally, farmers are receiving pressure to use fewer pesticides and herbicides on their crops, and GMOs aid in that especially. Cathy Enright, executive director of the Council for Biotechnology Information, said that “Whatever we in science, development and agriculture can avail ourselves of to be able to provide an ample, nutritious food supply, we’re for it.”

If you are interested in reading science based information on biotechnology and genetically modified organisms, this is the new website:

I’m curious, you don’t actually trust the makers of Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO’s, to be honest when telling the public about Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO’s,…do you?

Thats like the NRA telling us guns are perfectly safe and not responsible for the 22,981 American deaths By Guns In The United States In The 261 Days Since The Sandy Hook Massacre.

Just curious about your NEW GMO WEBSITE, which you tout as ” science based information on biotechnology and genetically modified organisms.” Kinda like a rapist giving a report on why rape is OK & perfectly safe for women/men.

If you re-read the first paragraph of that post, you will see that we try to maintain a neutral stance on these issues. We’re letting people know that this website is available. You can go to the website, see what these companies have to say about biotechnology, and make your own decisions. We have posted previously about organic farming, and will post articles on that subject, as well as GMO’s, in the future. Thank you for your comment.

Hello obamacrat, And thank you for writing. This new GMO website is not our website, we simply posted that it exists and is available as a resource to all. We do not support nor deny GMOs. With that said, you may find as you research the tests which have been conducted on GMOs, by all different sources, that there have been no studies at all that show GMOs are harmful in any way. Additionally, the USDA and FDA, both of whom insist and demand that all food grown on our behalf be safe, support and declare that GMOs are safe for consumers.
